Building on Rural
Shift - Peak District Arts and Community Funding Workshop
12 to 4.30 Wednesday 11th December 2002
Agricultural Business Centre, Bakewell
Free to all, including lunch.
Aim
This workshop organised by Arts in The Peak with Littoral and
other organisations will build on the Rural Shift conference 22/23rd
October on the arts and rural social inclusion. It will help fund
capacity for artists and arts organisations and interested voluntary
sector groups to help them to use the arts to participate and
deliver within the Peak District social inclusion programmes.
Method
A funding, advice
and networking workshop in November using the very successful
Derbyshire Dales CVS Derbyshire Dales Rural Community Council
model from last May
Nature of the Workshop
It is a resourcing workshop rather than purely funding. It is
geared to bring Peak District social inclusion agencies and funders
together with interested artists and arts organisations, and interested
voluntary groups to help the arts deliver on rural social inclusion
issues, thus building on the Rural Shift Conference. It is timed
to occur on 11th December, six weeks after the Rural Shift Conference,
at the time of year when people are really starting to think about
funding applications for work in the next financial year.
The workshop works by people going to individual stalls, moving
around every twenty minutes or so, rather than one funder after
another addressing an audience. It is a model proven last May,
and to help you gain a mind's picture, think of a university careers
fair, with people moving from stall to stall and you've got the
idea.
The funders invited would be a broader spectrum that a straightforward
arts or voluntary sector funding workshop, and social inclusion
organisations interested in the arts approach would be welcome
in order to network with their arts confreres.
