Help with Employer Supported Volunteering

A set of online resources with a focus on promoting employer-supported volunteering programmes in smaller businesses has been launched by Volunteering England. Research from Ashridge Business School found that while small and medium size business owners wanted to give something back to the community they lacked time and accessible information. The new resources include a search facility to make it easier to find partner organisations that offer Employer-Supported Volunteering. It can be downloaded (a rather large 7.5MB, 120 pages), or a print copy ordered, via www.goldstar.org.uk/goldstar_downloads.html

Central Networks - Safer Environment Fund – Building a Better and Safer Environment for Your Community

Central Networks is committed to working with the communities it serves and building better and safer environments across central England . To help to do this, we have a fund to support community projects that will have a positive and lasting impact on their local environment. The fund is open to all community groups who want to build safer and better environments.

The fund is open to all local community groups and not for profit organisations with their own bank account located in the Central Networks distribution region, see map on the website for exact boundaries. Joint proposals (for example, with local authorities) will be considered, although the community organisation or group must lead the applications.

The fund will support projects that will have a lasting and positive affect on the community’s environment. From improving safety in a children’s playground to building a nature reserve on some old waste ground, Central Networks will consider a wide range of applications. Applications are invited for funding up to a maximum of £2,500 and grants may be awarded for the full amount of the project or for part of the project.
