Buxton Sprint Triathlon 23 August 2009

A Sprint Triathlon will take place on 23 August, using the Pavilion at Buxton as Race HQ.  They are looking for volunteers to assist on the day – volunteers are the backbone of many sporting events.  Hardworking and dedicated people are needed, who are enthused by sport and want to give something back to their community.  The aim is that these events are fun, exciting and safe.

Roles to be filled include but are not exclusive to:

  • Pool Lane counting – where volunteers are asked to count the amount of lengths each participant does up to length 16;
  • Bike route marshal – where volunteers are there to encourage and make sure nobody gets hurt along the way;
  • Run route marshal – where volunteers are needed to encourage and make sure all the participants are safe;
  • Timing chip collector – here volunteers are used to collect all of our timing chips so that none of them get lost; and
  • Goody bags – here volunteers will hand out and pack the goody bags after each participant has finished.

Start times are relatively early at around 6.45 am, however the volunteers would be finished at around 12.00 noon.  They pay between £10 and £25 to the volunteers, dependent on the role they fulfil.  However, if you prefer to muster marshals as a club, we can make a donation of £10 per head to your fundraising.

They can also offer volunteers entry to a future event, if they prefer that to monetary payment.
