Training from High Peak CVS
The Role of Secretary in a Voluntary or Community Group
Wed 18 Nov, 9.45am – 1pm
Every group ends up needing a secretary to the committee. But what really does a secretary have to do? What are the roles and responsibilities? What skills and knowledge should you have and how should you keep the committee members up to date and informed. This short course will tackle these basic questions and explore the varied roles that come under the general heading of ‘Secretary’.
The course is suitable for people who are new to the role and also for experienced secretaries who want to take a fresh look at how they work.
Fundraising for Beginners
Tue 24 Nov, 10am – 1pm
Short of cash? Would you like to know how to go about making grant applications – and be successful? This is an introductory session for those with little or no experience of making applications for grant funding.
The task of applying for grants can seem awesome. This session will provide you with a step-by-step process including where and how to find out who to apply to, how to make your cause look attractive to the funder, and inspire you with confidence to have a go!
Both events are FREE at High Peak CVS, Bingswood Trading Estate, Whaley Bridge

A Coalition to Represent Rural England
A Rural Coalition has been launched to represent the needs of rural communities in England. The first members include the Campaign to Protect Rural England, Action with Communities in Rural England, the Town and Country Planning Association and the Local Government Association. They argue that the future of rural England can only be secured if local rural communities take on the challenge of securing a more sustainable future for themselves, and that national policies on planning etc. help with this. More organisations are expected to join the coalition.
