Survey Snapshot of Volunteer Involving Organisations

The East Midlands England Volunteering Development Council (EMEVDC) are concerned that the coalition government’s agenda of increased volunteering does not address the need to properly fund the infrastructure that supports volunteering activity.

Following discussions with Government Office East Midlands (GOEM), they are hoping to quickly and briefly collate a snapshot of volunteering across the region through an online survey.

They will then feed the results, collated into a report, into government and other stakeholders nationally, regionally and locally to aid the development of the Big Society and influence funding decisions. They will also provide a copy of the report for organisations to use with your local MP/MEP etc.

The white papers will be open for a short public consultation in October, but EMEVDC feel that the best opportunity to influence is now before they are written. They would like you to help them with this, if you could spend half an hour responding to the questions in the survey, it could make a difference to the future of volunteering under the coalition government.

To complete the survey visit www.surveymonkey.com/s/NVMVBBX

If you require assistance or the survey in paper format email information@one-em.org.uk The deadline for responses to the survey is Friday 30 July

VCS ICT Support Survey 2010

The national ICT Champions team are asking voluntary and community organisations to participate in a survey of VCS ICT support.

To take part visit: www.surveymonkey.com/s/ictsurvey2010

The project is concerned about where organisations will find help in the future and the main objective of this survey is to create a 'directory' of some form which is accessible to everyone and informs people where they can get the support they need locally.

The survey is about who offers any sort or information and communication technology (ICT) support for voluntary and community groups. Not necessarily who are the dedicated technical support providers and website designers and so on, we're more interested to learn about general support organisations who might for example also do basic Microsoft Office training, or have their own list of technical support providers to signpost their members and groups to, or perhaps they do basic computer use classes.

This survey is part of a NAVCA ICT Champions project funded by Capacitybuilders, investigating information and communication technology support for voluntary and community groups in England.

National Lottery Funding Consultation

On 19 May 2010, the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, outlined his vision for the cultural sector and the National Lottery.

He proposed that Big Lottery Fund’s 50 per cent share of the total good cause allocation would be reduced to 46 per cent by April 2011 and down to 40 per cent by April 2012. The three other good causes: arts, sports and heritage, will benefit equally from the remaining share.  Grants for voluntary and community sector will then go up by a fifth to £630m in 2013/14 after the Olympics.

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) recently launched a three month consultation on these proposals to change the way Lottery shares are distributed.

NCVO will be responding to this consultation and they are interested in your views. For more information, read the NCVO briefing on the proposed changes and to take part visit: www.ncvo-vol.org.uk/advice-support/funding-finance  You can respond directly via: www.dcms.gov.uk and download the consultation document from: www.culture.gov.uk/consultations/7070.aspx

Closing date for comments is 21 August 2010.
