Home-Start Trustees Wanted

Home-Start High Peak recruits and trains volunteers to support parents with young children at home. Without volunteer Trustee members of the management committee the Home-Start scheme would lack management, direction and cohesion.

 Trustees are responsible for:

  • Making the charity effective
  • Providing overall direction
  • Maintaining sound management of funds

Being a Trustee can be hard work but is also rewarding, giving many chances for personal development and the chance to give something back to your community. How much of your time it will take can vary, especially if you take on additional commitments but on average it will be around 4 hours per month.

The kind of skills that are in demand are:

  • Business links
  • Personnel management
  • Finance
  • Fundraising
  • Information technology
  • Communications

But you don’t need special qualifications to be a special Trustee. You do need common sense; an understanding of the pressures facing parents today; and a genuine interest in supporting parents in your community.
