Fairfield Skate Park Group

A fantastic new group in Fairfield working to get a state of the art new skate park facility for the area.

Fairfield Skatepark GroupFairfield Skate Park Group are working to replace the current and dated skate park, move the location so itís safer for all ages and abilities to use and enjoy and to ensure Fairfield have their own up to date resource developing skating and related sports.

The state of the current park means young people serious about the sport are having to travel to other areas to access the latest facilities.  This local group want Fairfield to have a skate facility they can be proud of and one where other sporty youngsters from the surrounding areas will want to come to.

Keen to ensure the young people are at the heart of this project, committee members, Gareth Sumner and Kirsty Brown have set up a youth sub-group, so local youngsters can help shape the work through all stages.

At their fantastic and well attended recent family fun day fundraiser, (sponsored by DCC Youth Action grant), there was impressive support from local business, donating raffle prizes from a BMX bike, a flat screen TV, to hair and beauty vouchers or meals out in Buxton. The event was so successful raising almost £2,000, the group are planning more local events to continue to raise the money required.

The group have so far been supported by DCC Youth Action Grant, Waitrose, Moorlands Housing, and the local councillors fund.
