A YEAR IN FOCUS - The 2003 Annual Report of High Peak CVS

Directory of Voluntary and Community Groups

The first edition of the Directory of Voluntary and Community Groups working within the High Peak was published in 2003. It includes 265 entries: self help groups, social clubs and larger service providers. We have also included some statutory sector organisations.

It was produced by High Peak CVS for members of the public as well as community development workers. We hope that it is a useful reference guide, helping to signpost people to organisations and groups whilst highlighting the variety of the sector within the borough.

Copies are still available for organisations to purchase: £5 per copy for voluntary or community groups, £7.50 per copy for statutory sector. To order a copy, email here.

Derbyshire CircuitRiders: Assessing the Impact
Derbyshire CircuitRiders is the generic name given to a number of initiatives developed by High Peak CVS which offer various types of IT support to voluntary and community groups in different areas of the county. This report is intended to demonstrate the success and impacts of the initiatives, and summarises the activities and learning gained. It tracks both outcomes and outputs, and is designed to be a useful resource for other practitioners within the voluntary sector who are considering developing projects to meet the IT needs of frontline organisations as well as demonstrating to funders the success of the work.

NACVS - Changing Lives

"CVS are at the very heart of the local voluntary and community sector – leading local activity and linking up across sectors. Without CVS, organisations falter and individuals miss life-changing opportunities. Put simply, CVS make things happen."

This short publication gives a flavour of what CVS do, working behind the scenes, to ensure the long-term future of essential services. Most of all, it is about the lives of local people, which are touched, enriched and transformed as a result of their work.

Much of the work that CVS's do focuses on several key areas: services and support; development work; liaison; representation; and strategic partnerships. This publication looks at what this means on the ground.
