The Prohelp Co-ordinator recruits new member firms to Prohelp, assesses and allocates applications for Prohelp support, and promotes the local Prohelp scheme.
  • To provide support to community groups making applications and member firms taking projects on.
  • To assess applications for Prohelp support and allocate successful requests to member firms.
  • To recruit new member firms to Prohelp, in conjunction with the BITC local Area Manager and the national Business in the Community Account Management Team.

  • Job Title: Prohelp Co-ordinator

    Fixed Term Contract of 2.5 years with potential continuation of funding

    Responsible to - Chief Executive

    Hours of work - 18.5 hours per week

    Place of Work - Based at the High Peak CVS office on Bingswood Trading Estate, Whaley Bridge

    Main Responsibilities

    • To assess applications for Prohelp support.
    • To allocate successful requests to member firms.
    • To provide support to community groups making applications and member firms taking projects on.
    • To provide the appropriate administration to the above process.
    • To monitor and record progress of projects.
    • To collect qualitative and quantitative information on projects for Business in the Community, High Peak CVS and appropriate funders.
    • To co-ordinate, administer and lead quarterly Prohelp steering group meetings.
    • To liaise with Prohelp Chair and other Prohelp managers re local priorities.
    • To promote Prohelp to a wide variety of community groups.
    • To recruit new member firms to Prohelp, in conjunction with the BITC local Area Manager, the national Business in the Community Account Management Team and the High Peak CVS Chief Executive.
    • To organise and help deliver professional advice workshops for voluntary groups.
    • To organise and deliver an annual prohelp awareness raising/thank you event.
    • To provide articles and information on Prohelp for High Peak CVS and Business in the Community.
    • To attend High Peak CVS team meetings, staff training and other meetings as required.
    • Adhere to stated policies, Health & Safety and quality management.
    • To work at all times to promote High Peak CVS’s Equal Opportunities Policy.

    • Be willing to travel to appropriate meetings across High Peak and Derbyshire Dales.


    Person Specification

    This role requires an enthusiastic individual who enjoys developing and maintaining relationships with a wide range of people and organisations. They will also need to play close attention to detail when assessing applications. Candidates will need to demonstrate enthusiasm for the role business can play in social and economic regeneration and an interest in how professional advice can help build the capacity of the voluntary sector. They also need to be able to communicate this enthusiasm and belief to others. The candidate will need to be helpful and courteous and committed to providing a high level of customer care to professional firms, professionals and voluntary and community groups.

    Experience and Knowledge

    • Strong communication skills – verbal and written.

    • Effective time management, planning and organising skills to enable jobholder to deliver to deadlines.

    • Ability to assess applications for support.

    • Ability to develop knowledge of the community sector.

    • Ability to develop knowledge of the professional business sector.

    • Selling skills.

    • Creativity in terms of developing programmes.

    • Good IT skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office e.g. Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.

    • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.

    • An understanding of equal opportunities and a commitment to achieving equal opportunity goals.

    Desirable

    • An understanding of, and experience of, working in the voluntary sector and their need for professional support.

    • An understanding of, and experience of working within, the professional business sector.
